BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION MAJOR IN SOCIAL SCIENCE

I. Program Educational Objectives
Three to five years after graduation, the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies alumni shall:

  1. be employed in the field of computing;
  2. possess globally competitive skills;
  3. demonstrate personal dignity and integrity; and
  4. engage in community development or nation-building.

II. Student Outcomes
By the time of graduation, the students will be able to:

  1. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts;
  2. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline;
  3. Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments;
  4. Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners;
  5. Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT;
  6. Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
  7. Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the local, national, and global realities;
  8. Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through various experiential and field-based opportunities;
  9. Utilize appropriate various sociocultural and historical materials in explaining current issues;
  10. Organize communities towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency;
  11. Demonstrate leadership skills that will help in teaching or training students who will empower their communities;
  12. Employ principles of sustainable development in teaching and learning;
  13. Show scholarship in research and further learning;
  14. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;
  15. Preserve and promote Filipino historical and cultural heritage; and
  16. Work effectively as a lead or support in team or collaborative teaching.
