I. Program Educational Objectives
Three to five years after graduation, the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies alumni shall:
- be employed in the field of computing;
- possess globally competitive skills;
- demonstrate personal dignity and integrity; and
- engage in community development or nation-building.
II. Student Outcomes
By the time of graduation, the students will be able to:
- Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts;
- Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline;
- Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments;
- Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners;
- Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT;
- Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
- Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the local, national, and global realities;
- Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through various experiential and field-based opportunities;
- Utilize appropriate various sociocultural and historical materials in explaining current issues;
- Organize communities towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency;
- Demonstrate leadership skills that will help in teaching or training students who will empower their communities;
- Employ principles of sustainable development in teaching and learning;
- Show scholarship in research and further learning;
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;
- Preserve and promote Filipino historical and cultural heritage; and
- Work effectively as a lead or support in team or collaborative teaching.
