Dr. Charlemagne Garcia Laviña is the seventh President of the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao – a dedicated family man, a God-fearing leader, and a visionary educator. A true-blooded Cabuyeño, Dr. Laviña is the eldest child of Rodrigo Ramos Laviña and Fortunata Rimas Garcia.
Dr. Laviña was elected and appointed to office by virtue of the Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution Number 51 Series of 2022, in accordance with City Ordinance No. 2022-758. Prior to this, he served as the University President III at Laguna University (2020-2022) and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila (2013-2020).
He finished his Doctorate Degree in Information Technology Management from Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba with a Latin honor of magna cum laude. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Laguna College of Business and Arts (LCBA) and Master’s Degree in Computer Science from AMA-Makati.
After graduating from college, he entered the world of academe as an educator. Among the tertiary schools that he worked in were LCBA, AMA Computer Learning Center-Calamba, Laguna State Polytechnic College-Cabuyao, Colegio de San Juan De Letran-Calamba, Pamantasan ng Cabuyao, and Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila.
Dr. Laviña shares his expertise in the teaching profession and experiences in running academic institutions by being part of various accrediting bodies. Currently, he is an IT Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) member, a Degree Program Evaluator in PCS Information and Computing Accreditation Board (PICAB), an Institutional Sustainability Assessment (ISA) Assessor in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). He is also one of the accreditors in the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) and Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).
For seven years, he has been serving as the president of the Samahan ng Makabayang Cabuyeños (SaMaCa), a SEC-registered non-government organization (NGO) in Cabuyao, which he founded in 2015.
Some of the recognitions he received were the awards for Natatanging Cabuyeño, the Most Outstanding PERAA (Private Education Retirement Annuity Association) Member, and the Outstanding Lagunense in the field of Education awarded by the Provincial Government of Laguna.
